Other people in Ur prayed to idols and didn't obey God.

They tried to kill Abraham.
彼らはアブラハムを殺そうとしたが、
Abraham prayed to God for help.
アブラハムは神の助けのために祈り、
God said he would bless Abraham and his family.

God would send a famine to the wicked people.

There would be no food.

Melchizedek was a righteous king.
メルケゼデクは義にかなった王様であった。
He had the priesthood.
彼は神権を持っていて、
He blessed Abraham, and Abraham paid his tithing to Melchizedek.
アブラハムを祝福し、アブラハムはメルキゼデクに十分の一を納めた。
God said Abraham's family would have the priesthood.
神は、アブラハムの家族は神権を受け、
His family could have the Promised Land.
その家族が約束の地を授かるとおっしゃった。
Abraham and Sarah were sad because they had no children.

Later God said Abraham and Sarah would have a son.
後に神は、アブラハムとサラは息子をもうけ、
His name would be Isaac.
その名前はイサクであり、
He would serve God and obey His commandments.

Sarah was 90 years old.
サラは90歳で、
She was too old to have a baby.
子供をもうけるには年が行き過ぎていた。
But God said Sarah would have a baby.
けれども神は、サラは子供をもうけるであろうと言われた。
Sarah had a baby boy named Isaac.
サラはイサクという男の子を授かった。
God wanted to know if Abraham would obey Him.
神はアブラハムがご自分に従うかどうか知ることを望まれた。
God told him to sacrifice Isaac on a mountain.
神が彼に山の上でイサクを犠牲にするように命じられた。
Abraham loved his son very much.
アブラハムは息子をとても愛していて、
He did not want to sacrifice Isaac.
イサクを犠牲にしたくはなかった。
But Abraham wanted to obey God.
しかしアブラハムは神に従いたい気持ちがあった。
God told Abraham to go to a mountain.
神はアブラハムに山へ行くように言われた。
He took Isaac and two men with him.
アブラハムはイサクと二人の男を連れて行った。
Abraham and Isaac rode on a donkey.
アブラハムとイサクはロバに乗っていた。
They traveled for three days.
彼らは三日間旅をした。
The two men stayed with the donkey.
二人の男がロバと共に待っている間、
Abraham and Isaac walked up the mountain.
アブラハムとイサクは山を登って行った。
Abraham took a knife; Isaac took some wood.

Isaac asked where the lamb was for the sacrifice.

He put wood on it.
その上に木を置いた。
Abraham tied Isaac and put him on the altar.
そしてイサクを縛って、祭壇に乗せた。
He held a knife over Isaac.
彼はイサクの上でナイフを握っていた。
Abraham was ready to sacrifice his son.
アブラハムは息子をささげる準備ができた。
But an angel spoke to Abraham.
ところが、一人の天使がアブラハムに語りかけ、
He told Abraham not to sacrifice Isaac.
アブラハムにイサクを犠牲にしないように言った。
Abraham had obeyed God.
アブラハムは神様に従ったので、
God loved Abraham.
神はアブラハムを愛された。
Abraham looked around and saw a ram in the bushes.
アブラハムが辺りを見回すと、羊が木の茂みの中にいるのが見えた。
God had given the ram for the sacrifice.
神はいけにえにするための羊をくださったのである。
Abraham sacrificed the ram on the altar.
アブラハムは祭壇の上でその羊を犠牲に捧げた。
God was happy Abraham had obeyed him.
神はアブラハムがご自分に従ったのを喜ばれた。
God said He would bless Abraham's family.

Heavenly Father was willing to let His son, Jesus Christ, die for us.
天のお父様は私たちのために、御子である、イエスキリストを進んで犠牲にされた。
Jesus and Isaac loved their fathers and obeyed them.
イエスとイサクは自分のお父さんを愛し、従った。
