The king of Babylon made a gold idol and commanded the people to pray to it.
バビロンの王は金の偶像を作り、それを拝むように命じた。
If they didn't, they would be thrown into a fiery furnace.
そうしなければ、火の中に投げ込まれると言った。
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego wouldn't pray to the idol because they only prayed to God.
シャデラクとメシャクとアベデネゴは神だけに祈っていたので偶像に祈ろうとはしなかった。
When the king found out, he was angry.
王がそれを知り、腹を立てた。
He sent for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
王はシャデラクとメシャクとアベデネゴを呼んで来させた。
The king told them they would be burned in the furnace.
火の中に投げ込むと言った。
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were not afraid.
シャデラクとメシャクとアベデネゴは恐れなかった。
They knew God would save them.
神が助けて下さることを知っていたからである。
The king’s servants built a fire in the furnace.
王の家来は炉の中に火をおこした。
They tied Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego with ropes and threw them into the fire.
シャデラクとメシャクとアベデネゴを縄で縛り、火の中に投げ込んだ。
The fire was so hot the servants died.
火は熱く家来は死んでしまった。
But when the king looked into the furnace, he saw four men walking in the fire.
王が炉の中を見ると、4人の人が火の中を歩いているのを見た。
One of the men was an angel of God.
一人は神の天使だった。
The king shouted to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to come out of the furnace.
王はシャデラクとメシャクとアベデネゴに炉から出て来るように言った。
The fire had not hurt them at all.
火はなんの効果もなかった。
It had not burned their hair or clothes, and they didn't even smell like smoke.

バビロンの王はだれも神に対して悪いことを言ってはいけないという法律を作った。
Only God could save men from fire.
