What Color is the…?

Print and cut out pictures of these animals. Hold them up for the students, and ask what color each animal is.

Games:

I Am Wearing Something Blue-

A circle is formed with a number of chairs equal to one less than the number of students (ex: If there are 5 students, there should be 4 chairs). One student will be left without a chair, and will stand in the center of the circle. The student standing in the center calls out a color that they are wearing. If any of the students who are sitting are wearing that color, they must get up and find another chair. The student in the center must attempt to take one of the free seats while the other players are moving. The next student in the center is “it.”

Find the Color-

Print out this dice. Have a student toss it on the ground. Whatever color it lands on, all the students have to hurry around the classroom to find something that is that color.

Guess the Color-

Students are given a card with a color written on it. The student who is “It” must touch three things of that color in the room. The class then guesses which color the student has on his/her card.

Color Trio Game:

The teacher divides the class into groups of three. Each group is given a set of cards with different colors written on them. The teacher names a series of three colors in English. Each

group must find those three colors in the order said to the class. For example, the teacher

says, “Red, Yellow, Green.” The teams need to stand and hold up the red, yellow, and

green cards in that order. Each team member must be holding onto a card. The teacher

observes the cards as they are held up.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See?

Have the students sit in a circle. Ask a student, “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see?” and have them answer back “I see a {color} bear looking at me.” Then, everyone has to name something that is that color.
