Start by bringing in a clock or alternatively using pictures of a clock with its hands at different times. Elicit and chorus<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the word &#8220;clock&#8221; with the students. Then point to number 1 and elicit the number. Point to each number 1-12 in order and elicit the numbers (you can move the hour<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hand around as you do this).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Gestures-<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stand everyone in front of you. Say &#8220;Point your hands at 1 o\u2019clock&#8221; and demonstrate how to do this (hold one arm straight up at 12 and the other at 1). Then say \u201cPoint your hands at 2 o\u2019clock\u201d \u2026 continue all the way round to 12 o\u2019clock.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Make your Own Clock-<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have the students make <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lauracandler.com\/filecabinet\/math\/PDF\/makeclock.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">their own clock<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">! Read the book again and have the students change the time on their clock to match the one in the book.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Draw the Time!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Draw a big clock on the board. Say a time, and then call a student to come up to the board and draw the hands on the clock at the proper placement.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Games<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><b>What\u2019s the Time, Mr. Wolf?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One player is chosen to be Mr Wolf. Mr Wolf stands at the opposite end of the playing field from the other players, facing away from them. A call-and-response then takes place: all players except for Mr Wolf chant in unison &#8220;What&#8217;s the time, Mr Wolf?&#8221;, and Mr Wolf will answer in one of the two ways:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1) Mr Wolf may call a clock time (e.g., &#8220;3 o&#8217;clock&#8221;). The other players will then take that many steps out long as they go (&#8220;One, two, three&#8221;). Then they ask the question again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2) Mr Wolf may call &#8220;Dinner time!&#8221;, when Mr Wolf will turn around and chase the other players back to their starting point. If Mr Wolf successfully tags a player, that player becomes the new Mr Wolf for the next round.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Beach Ball \u2013<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cut out the different clocks, as <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.teachingenglishgames.com\/PDF\/o%27clock.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">found here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. and tape them up around the room. After that, gather all the students in a circle. Throw a beach ball or another ball up into the air. When a student catches the ball, they must call out a time, such as 12 o\u2019clock. Then, all the students must run over and touch the sheet of paper that has the correct time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What\u2019s the Time?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Draw a big clock on the board. Assign each hour an action, such as \u201cjump\u201d or \u201csing.\u201d So, one o\u2019clock would be \u201crun\u201d and two o\u2019clock would be \u201cjump,\u201d etc. Have the students collectively call out \u201cWhat time is it?\u201d and then you should back answer with a time.
