*In the best infomercial voice you can imagine*

Have you ever wanted to travel? See the world? But it’s just too expensive? Don’t have the time or the money to visit another country? Wouldn’t it be nice to experience a foreign culture from the comfort of your own living room? Well now you can!

Okay, enough with the TV infomercial. Let’s get serious now.

Mikuni International was built upon the idea of cultural exchange. It thrives on integrating Japanese culture with American culture to create a place of learning – a place that can help both Americans and Japanese to open their minds and hearts to the vast world around them. Such an exchange can help one to see the world in a different light, one that is more open-minded, kind, and accepting.

Mikuni International’s Pen Pal Program seeks to extend this beautiful correspondence beyond the walls of the school building itself by reaching out to English speakers around the world. Our aim is to connect hearts and cultures through the exchange of letters, emails, and various other social media avenues.

The students at Mikuni International College are trying to improve their English skills. Having a friend, a mentor, someone who they can talk to and practice with would mean the world to them. They need your help! As a participant in this program, you will be assigned a Japanese Pen Pal whom you will write to and talk to on a regular basis. This is very important. If you know that you cannot commit the time to write to your Pen Pal at least once every other week, please refrain from signing up.

Become friends with your Pen Pal! Get to know them. This is not just about improving English ability, but about offering support and friendship. It’s about erasing the boundaries drawn on maps, and learning to accept those of all races and countries.

We look forward to your participation!
