There was a war in the land of Israel.

King Saul and the Israelites were fighting the Philistines.
サウル王とイスラエル人は、ペリシテ人と戦っていた。
One of the Philistines was a giant.
ペリシテ人の一人は巨人であった。
His name was Goliath.
ゴリアテという名前だった。
He was very big and strong.
とても大きくて強かった。
The Israelites were afraid of him.
イスラエル人はゴリアテを非常にこわがった。
Goliath shouted to the Israelites.
ゴリアテはイスラエル人に向かって叫んだ。
He told them to choose a man to fight him.
ゴリアテと戦える者を一人選べと言った。
No one wanted to fight the giant.
こんな大男と戦いたいと思う者はだれ一人いなかった。
